The roots of this band most definitely lie in Ireland; a land despite its small size and population has produced such legends as THIN LIZZY, RORY GALLAGHER, GARY MOORE and U2. In the late 90's, disillusioned with the Irish music scene, guitarist Ian O'Sullivan left for Germany determined to make a mark on the world of music. In 99, he met fellow Irishman and vocalist Camillus Croke and together they traveled Western Europe playing everything from Rock Cover music to Irish Folk. Soon after, Jesse Braun joined them, from the U.S.A. on drums and together they began formulating a musical direction with O'Sullivan as main Composer. A second guitarist was found in Drew Myers also from the U.S.A. and a chance meeting led to John A.B.C. Smith (ex-SCANNER) joining the band. Smith being a talented bassist and composer helped to enrich the band's repertoire and further diversify the musical influences. All the pieces were now in place! In October 2002, HALLOWED recorded their first demo in Mohrmann's Studios, Bochum, Germany and were immediately brought to the attention of Axel Thubeauville of Shark Records. His sharp eye for spotting talent at an early stage is world-renowned. The Shark label is responsible for discovering such world class acts as SEPULTURA, WARLOCK and STRATOVARIOUS to name but a few and in February 2003, HALLOWED returned to Mohrmann's Studios only this time to record their debut album. And this only six months after the band was officially formed! The debut C.D. entitled "Forgotten People" has now been released on Shark Records/Crazy Life Music since the 21st of July 2003 and has already received a lot of positive feedback, receiving 7.5 from Germany's Rock Hard magazine. The many different forces that shape this band are evident in the music. The material is powerful and diverse with an intensity that few bands today can match. While speed and aggression are major factors, the band is unique in that they can blend this flawlessly with multiple vocal-harmonies and melodic guitar work. The explosive opener "Feed The Machine" exemplifies this style. The Celtic influence which is the soul of the band is represented in the haunting introduction "Caoineadh/Lament" which gives the listener something to think about and lets them know that this band has more to offer! The next step for the band is of course the live stage and warm up gigs are planned in Germany soon after the C.D. release so watch out here for news of these. All in all this is a band that are going from strength to strength and can't be stopped , so keep your eyes on HALLOWED for the future! --Miriam Tolba
